Julius P. Takacs

Julius P. Takacs, 83, of Gerencser Drive, South Bend, passed away at 12:55am
Tuesday, May 24, 2005, in Hospice House.
Mr. Takacs retired from the South Bend
Fire Department after 20 years of service. He also was
employed by the St. Joseph County Sheriff Department, was a
commercial painter and worked for Derby Inc. Julius was a World
War II Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He also
was a member of the D.F.V. German Club and the Brotherhood
of Painters.
Julius was born on February
9, 1922, in South Bend, to Julius and Helen (Fuzy) Takacs. On
June 22, 1946, in South Bend, he married the former Hermina
Minnie Freitag, who survives along with three
daughters, Charlotte (Andrew) Karafa, Betty Zeiger and Annette
Deguch, all of South Bend; a son, James J. (Kathleen) Takacs of
Kentwood MI; nine grandchildren, Andrew Karafa Jr., Frank Karafa,
Amy Zeiger, Aaron Zeiger, David Deguch, Theo Deguch, Mackenzie
Deguch, Jacqueline Takacs and Jonathon Takacs; and five great
grandchildren, A.J. Karafa, Lila Karafa, Iris Karafa, Arielle
Mattoon and Zach Mattoon.
Mr. Takacs was preceded in death by two
brothers, Julius P. Takacs and Geza Takacs; and a son-in-law,
Paul Deguch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10am Saturday, May 28,
2005, in St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial
will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may
call from 3 to 8pm Friday in Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble
Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4pm. Memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of St Joseph County, 111
Sunnybrook Court, South Bend IN 46637.
