Mary H. Tafelski, 80, of West Grace
Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 29,
in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born March
25, 1922, in South Bend, and was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Plonski.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mary married Edward Tafelski on Oct. 21,
1939, who survives. She is also survived by two daughters,
Dorothy (Bill Stockton) Grzeskowiak of South Bend and
Bernice (James) Niemasik of South Bend; two sons, Edward
Tafelski Jr. of Mishawaka, Ind., John (Henrietta) Tafelski of
South Bend; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three
step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Rutkowski of
Cassopolis, Mich.; and by two brothers, Albin Plonski of South
Bend and Eugene Plonski of Mishawaka.
Mary was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic
Church, the St. Adalbert Rosary Society and the Harvest House.
She was an avid bingo player and loved Las Vegas and the river
boats. She retired from Robertson's of South Bend after many
years of service.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m.
today, May 21, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, where there will be a Rosary said at 4 p.m. Services will
be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1, in St. Adalbert Catholic
Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Adalbert Building
Fund.
