SOUTH BEND - Daniel A. Szymanski, 87, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on
Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in his residence. Daniel was born on
September 29, 1922, in South Bend, to the late Maximilian and
Ludwika (Myszak) Szymanski. He was also preceded in death by a
son, Chris Szymanski, and a brother, Bert Szymanski. On September
6, 1947, in South Bend, Daniel married Irene (Przybylski). Irene
survives along with a son, David (Peggy) Szymanski of South Bend;
grandchildren, Eric and Heather Szymanski of South Bend;
great-grandson, Devin Szymanski; sister, Alfreda Molnar of
Muncie, IN; and brother, Chester Szymanski of New Carlisle.
Daniel honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and was a
member of American Legion Post 284. He worked as a truck driver
delivering concrete and was a member of Teamsters #364. He was a
diehard Cubs fan as well as the Bears, Notre Dame and the Colts.
He enjoyed going to Florida and Arizona for the winter, camping,
and was a member at PNA #83. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated
at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL
HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where family and friends may gather
for one hour prior to the liturgy. Burial will be at St. Joseph
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN
46637. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy,
