Aleen Olive Szlanfucht
Feb. 22, 1920 - April 11, 2006
Aleen Olive Szlanfucht, 86, of North
Illinois Street in South Bend, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday,
April 11, 2006, in the Hospice House of Saint Joseph County of
natural causes. Aleen was born February 22, 1920, to Carl G. and
Edith M. (Rowe) Siders in South Bend.
In 1936 she married John Keller Sr.,
who preceded her in death. In 1948 Aleen married Walter Stanley
Szlanfucht, who also preceded her in death.Surviving are her
children, John W. (Janet) Keller of Osceola, IN, Glen D.
(Mildred) Keller of Henderson, TN, Victor (Hazel) Keller of
Hudson, FL, Walter R. (Dottie) Keller of Jackson, TN, Ronald A.
Szlanfucht of Winter Garden, FL, Carl J. (Sandy) Szlanfucht of
Buchanan, MI, Stanley C. Szlanfucht of Shirley, MA, Harold E.
(Jewell) Szlanfucht of South Bend, IN, Francis H. Szlanfucht of
South Bend, Mildred (Keller) Robinson and her husband,
Charles of Osceola, IN, and Donna J. (Keller) Proud of El Paso,
TX. Also surviving are a stepson, Jack Lee (Shirley) Szlanfucht
Sr. of Osceola; a sister, Lillian Parker of Las Vegas,
Nevada; 31 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild. Preceding Aleen in death were her
parents; a son, Thomas R. Keller; a stepson, Walter Szlanfucht
Jr.; and her sisters, Beulah Eshelman and Ethel Andrews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday,
April 14, 2006, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Services
will be conducted by Rev. Brian Beeks at 10 a.m. Saturday, April
15, 2006, in Chapel Hill, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens. Aleen was a homemaker, and also tended bar for
25 years, working at the Lydick Tavern, Ardmore Tavern, and
Kegger's. She was a life member of the VFW Post 9820 in South
Bend and the Polish National Alliance. Even as recent as the last
few weeks, in her spare time, she made Indian dolls and other
crafts. Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice
