GRANGER - Katherine C. Szeghy, 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in The Acres, New Carlisle. Katherine was born on June 16, 1915, in South Bend, to Julius and Caroline (Nemeth) Poczik. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Julia Huyvaert, Emery Poczik, Julius Poczik, Helen Poczik, Irene Poczik, and a great- niece, Debbie Fry. On April 17, 1937, in Mt. Morris, MI, she married Joseph Szeghy, who preceded her in death on November 22, 1981. Surviving Katherine are her nephew, Richard (Brenda) Huyvaert of Granger; nieces, Caroline Fry and Patsy Dutoi, both of Mishawaka; a great-niece Christina Kasmariak; great-nephews, Richard Jr., Jeffrey and Michael Huyvaert, Craig Fry and Ronald Dutoi; two great- great-nieces and a great- great-nephew. Katherine was a homemaker and enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends. The family would like to thank Susan Lies at The Acres and the rest of the staff for all of the care and kindness that they bestowed upon their Aunt Katherine.
