Rose C. Szalay, 91, of the Holy Cross
Care & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 727 W. Calvert
Street, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, in the rehab
center. Miss Szalay was a secretary for South Bend Engraving.
Rose was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church and its Sacred
Heart and Rosary Society. She was born on Jan. 8, 1910, in South
Bend, Ind., to Geza and Anna Szalay. She was preceded in death by
a sister, Sister Melanie, F.D.C.
She is survived by a sister, Theresa Barson
of Madison, Wis.; a brother, Julius Szalay of Fort Myers, Fla.;
two nieces, Dolores Szalay Voss and Loretta Szalay Schafer;
and by three nephews, Richard Barson, Jerry Barson and James
Szalay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in Our Lady of Hungary
Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the Zahoran
Funeral Home, 1826, S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be
recited at 4:30 p.m. by the Sacred Heart and Rosary Society.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Church
or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
