SOUTH BEND - Thomas J. Szabo, 91, of Ardmore Trail, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday in Transitional Health Care Center. Mr. Szabo retired in 1987 after 40 years as the owner and operator of the Lincolnwood Motel. He was born Oct. 8, 1903, in Hungary, and lived in this area most of his life.

In 1925, he married Elizabeth Szabo. She died in 1950. On Feb. 6, 1971, in South Bend, he married Valerie M. Jeziorski. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Cashman of Peoria, Ill., and Betty Lois Szabo of Mishawaka; a son, Thomas B. of Dublin, Ohio; and three grandchildren. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Loyal Order of the Moose No. 58.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
