SOUTH BEND - Emery M. ''Mac'' Szabo, 76, of Club Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, May 11, in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mac was a chief tool & die designer for 45 years, retiring form Huckins Tool & Die. He was born on Oct. 2, 1921, in Sopron Megye, Hungary.

On June 2, 1945, in South Bend, he married Dorothy Johnson, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Mark A. (Sue) Szabo of Kentucky and Craig W. (Nancy) Szabo of Mishawaka, Ind.; a grandson, Adam Szabo of Mishawaka; and three brothers, Alex Szabo, Edmund Szabo and Steven Szabo, all of South Bend. Mr. Szabo was an active member of the Calvert Rod & Gun Club in South Bend.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of donor's choice.
