Flormon P. ''Frank'' Synave, 91, of Dubail Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Synave was born on May 1, 1906, to Edward and Mary (Hellabuyn) Synave in South Bend.
His wife, the former Elizabeth Koperska, to whom he was married on Nov. 23, 1940, at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in South Bend, survives him.
He is also survived by a daughter, Rosemary Synave of Virginia Beach, Va.; four granddaughters, Kathy (Kevin) Arnold of Auburn, Ala., Julie (Tony) Gamboa of Groton, Conn., Lynn Rushing of Virginia Beach, Va., and Susan (James) McKaig of Edinburgh, Scotland; three great-granddaughters, Tori and Jessica Rushing and Catherine Gamboa; two sisters, Leona Morgan and Irene (Lloyd) Dauer, both of South Bend; and by several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Maurice; and by a sister, Emma Eliot.
He was a loving family man, an avid rose grower and was always a willing and able helper and handyman to all. He was a 50-member of St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend.
Funeral services for Flormon Synave will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Matthew Cathedral, with Father Thomas Shoemaker officiating. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
