Blanche Sarah Swinford, 75, of
Forestbrook Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 10:49 a.m. on
Tuesday, Feb. 27, in her residence. She was born on Feb. 11,
1926, in Terre Haute, Ind., to the late Linetta Mary (Broome)
and Elmer Ellsworth Critchlow. She was also preceded in
death by four sisters, Eva Mary Williams, Linetta Pearl
Swinford, Betty Jane Goldsmith and Marjory Frances Fisher.
Mrs. Swinford was married on Feb. 1, 1947,
in Terre Haute, as Blanche Sarah Critchlow to Lorell
"Leon" Swinford, who survives. Mrs. Swinford is also
survived by two daughters, Vicki Marlene Hack of Niles,
Mich., Tammy Sue (Walter Boothe) Taberski of South Bend;
two sons, Terry Leon Swinford and Russell Ray Swinford, both of
South Bend; five grandchildren, Ryan Keith Hack, Corey Matthew
(Thu) Hack, Jason Christopher (Amy) Swinford, Jeromy Steven
(Paula) Taberski and Dustin Shayne Taberski; a sister, Erma
Marguerite (Elmer) Klausner of Bennett, Colo.; and two
brothers-in-law, Oliver Goldsmith of Cedar Lake, Ind., and Virgil
Lee Fisher of South Bend. Mrs. Swinford was a homemaker, and was
a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Services for Mrs. Swinford will be at 11
a.m. on Saturday, March 3, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North,
17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where friends may call from 2
to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 2. Burial will be at St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family has
requested that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of
St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN
46637-3437.
