Peter Swilo, 86, died at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, where he was a resident. He was born in Ozlerawa, Poland, on Aug. 31, 1911, and had lived here since 1948, coming from Germany.

He had worked for years as a cook at the ABZ Restaurant in South Bend, Ind. Peter married Justyna Leluwicz in Poland on July 27, 1938. She preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1982. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Swilo on June 11, 1995.

Peter is survived by his daughters, Helen Knappenberger of Granger, Ind., and Donna VanOoteghem of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
