H. Wayne Swigart, 82, of 2029 Berkley Place, died at 6:35 a.m.
today in the Morningside Nursing Home, after a two-week illness.
He retired from Studebaker Corp. as foreman of the paint
department. He was born May 20, 1894, in Farmer City, Ill., and
had lived here for 65 years after coming from Farmer City. He was
married on Dec. 20, 1915, in South Bend, to Marie Brown, who died
on Feb. 16, 1975. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Miss
Clara Brown and Mrs. Mildred Ranson, both of South Bend.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521
N. William, with Rev. Gary Forbes, pastor of the First United
Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in
the funeral home. Swigart was a member of North Liberty Lodge 266
F&AM, from which he had received the Award of Gold. He also
was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.
