John G. Sullivan

SOUTH BEND - John G. "Jack" Sullivan, 84, formerly of Wayne St. and Angela Blvd., passed away on Thursday, October 25, at his home. Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Carroll (Quirk) Sullivan; five daughters, Jean S. (David) Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia (Steven) Sibo of Greenville, SC, Theresa (James K.) Lines of Colleyville, TX, Ann Margaret (William) Kaiser of Palo, Alto, CA, and Frances (Andrew) Peacock of Indianapolis; four sons, Kenneth M. (Joan) Sullivan of Wheaton, IL, John Edward (Robin) Sullivan of South Bend, Robert M. (Lori) Sullivan of Strongsville, OH, and Neal F. (Patricia) Sullivan of Cincinnati, OH; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norine (Jake) Adams of Shorewood, WI, and Helen (Harold) Brown of Arlington Heights, IL; and one sister-in-law, Kay (David) Sullivan of South Bend. Jack was born on August 2, 1922, in Chicago, IL to Helen (Nell) Kennedy and David Martin Sullivan, who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his infant daughter, Nora in 1966; his two brothers, David A. Sullivan and Frank P. Sullivan; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Sullivan.

 

Jack graduated from Austin High School, Chicago, IL, in 1940, and received his Bachelor of Philosophy from Loyola University, Chicago, in 1948. He served during World War II in the 315th Bomb Wing in Guam. Jack was the founder and CEO of J.G. Sullivan Advertising, Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Parish, where he was elected and served as President of the first Parish Council. He was also the President of the St. Joseph Valley Advertising and Sales Executive Club in 1970.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 28, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame.
