SOUTH BEND - Shirley J. Stump, 57, of South Bend, passed away at 1:15 PM Saturday, August 25th, at Hospice House of Elkhart County after an extended illness. Mrs. Stump was born on April 30, 1955, in South Bend, and had resided in the Michiana area her lifetime. On February 14, 1997, in South Bend, she married Dennis M. Stump, who survives. Also surviving are her parents, J.B. and Della M. (Mask) Frost of Niles, Michigan; three sons, William J. (Kelly) Toth of Granger, IN, James R. (Jennifer) Toth and Brandon A. Toth, both of South Bend; two stepdaughters, Jamie L. (Joe) Sloma and Amanda R. (Kenny) Leitch, both of South Bend; two stepsons, Chad M. Stump of Scottsdale, AZ, and Adam C. Stump of Mishawaka; two sisters, Patti A. Blankenship of Portage, Indiana, and Janet S. (John) Miller of South Bend; and one brother, James D. (Beth) Frost of Niles, Michigan. Shirley was a wonderful loving wife, mother, daughter and sister who will be dearly missed by her loving family, co-workers and all who had the opportunity to know her during her life journey. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She had 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, all whom she loved and cherished. She loved gardening, camping, motorcycle riding, and helping kids at Jefferson School where she was employed. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday, August 29th, at Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road / Indiana 23. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 30th, in the funeral home, with Pastor Ervin Mize officiating, and burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Elkhart County. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Stump family.
