SOUTH BEND Doris I. Stuban, 86, died Tuesday in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Survivors include daughters, Gail Lapkiewicz of South Bend and Linda (Jack Sr.) Makowski of Granger; a son, Michael (Suzanne) H. Stuban of Shavehead Lake MI; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be at 11am Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, where friends may call from 4 to 7pm Thursday, and one hour prior to services on Friday

SOUTH BEND Doris Irene Stuban, 86, of South Bend, passed away at 11:28am Tuesday, August 28, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
She was born April 9, 1921, in South Bend, to Simon Harvey and Jane (Boardman) Strycker, and had remained a lifelong resident. On December 27, 1941, in South Bend, as Doris Strycker, she was united in marriage to Michael Stuban Jr., who preceded her in death on January 27, 1991. Her sister, Fern M. Strycker, on December 9, 2002, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Stuban retired in 1984 as a secretary for the South Bend Community School Corp. She graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School, was a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, served as a secretary for the South Bend Chapter of AARP, and was a member of the Retired Indiana Public Employees Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail Lapkiewicz of South Bend and Linda (Jack Sr) Makowski of Granger; and a son, Michael H. (Suzanne) Stuban of Shavehead Lake MI. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Susan, Karen & Cheryl Lapkiewicz, all of South Bend, Kimberly Makowski of Mishawaka, Jack (Lisa) Makowski Jr. of Granger and Mark Makowski of Portland OR; and seven great grandchildren, Kelsey, Krista, Braden, Lindsay, Lauren, Nicholas and Grant.
Services for Mrs. Stuban will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 31, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Pat Somers, pastor of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00pm today, August 30, and one hour prior to services Friday in the funeral home.
