SOUTH BEND - Harry F. Strzelecki, 86 died at 12:25 p.m. on
July 2 in his residence with his family by his side. Harry was
born on September 12, 1922, in South Bend to the late John
Strzelecki and Mary (Harmacinski) Strzelecki-Peczkowski.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben and John
Strzelecki.
On October 25, 1947, he married Loraine
"Rita" (Leszcz). She survives, along with their
three children, Ronald (Cynthia) Strzelecki of Granger, Connie
(Chris) Grabowski of South Bend and Dale (Renie)
Strzelecki of Granger; grandchildren, J. J. Mullins,
Christopher and Cara Grabowski, Garrett, Tyler, Kelsey and
Ryne Strzelecki; brother, Arthur (Martha) Strzelecki of South
Bend; three stepbrothers, Joseph (Betty) Peczkowski of
Granger, Robert (Virginia) Peczkowski of South Bend and Thomas
(Lorraine) Peczkowski of Long Island, NY. Harry served in the
United States Coast Guard during World War II and retired in 1984
as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service after 28
years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American
Legion Post 357 and St. Joseph Young Men's Society. Harry enjoyed
fishing, teaching his grandchildren to fish, going to his son's
lake cottage, coaching Little League and was a handyman who could
fix almost anything including his grandchildren's toys. Harry
enjoyed bowling most of his life at PNA and recently he even
bowled with his grandchildren on his Nintendo Wii. He was also a
Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on
Sunday, July 6 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road,
where a Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 7 in St.
Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph
Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to The
