Mishawaka, Sophie A. Strozewski, 78,
of Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend,
formerly of 100 Center, South Bend, formerly of 100 Center High
Rise, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the nursing home. She was a
former employee of Wilson Brothers, Memorial Hospital and the
Karmel Korn Shop. She was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Ludington, Mich.
and had lived in Mishawaka since 1924, coming from Ludington.
On Sept. 5, 1936, in South Bend, as Sophie Nowak,
she married Walter Bladecki. He died in 1966. On Nov. 8,
1974, in South Bend, she married Edwin Strozewski. He survives,
with three daughters, Barbara Verduin of South Bend,
Angela Miller of Elgin, Texas, and Rosalie Tholan
of Edwardsburg; two sons, Thomas Bladecki and Raymond Bladecki,
both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
a sister Dorothy Way of South Bend; and three brothers,
Edward and Thad NowakK, both of South Bend, and Jerome
"Harry" Nowak of Roseland. She was a member of Legion
of Mary of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, South Bend, and
Polish National Alliance Group 83, South Bend.
Memorial services will be conducted at a
later date in the church. Cremation will take place. Graveside
services will be 3:30 p.m. March 31, in Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola. There will be no visitation.
Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
