Vanessa was born September 18, 1913 in Vigo County, IN. She is the daughter of the late Zadoc Piety and the late Ora France Watson.

She is survived by four children, Mrs. William (Joan) Tubbs of South Bend and Gene B. Strouss of Macon, Ga., Mrs. Arthur (Eleanor) Ritch of Bristol, IN, and Mrs. Kenneth (Frances) Johnson of Trevor, WI; one sister, Mrs. Elmo (Ruth) Hazelwood of Perry, FL; and two brothers, Buel Piety of Farmersburg, IN, and Kenneth Piety of McIntosh, FL; 11 grandchildren; and by 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother and one grandson.

Private graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a contributions to Schults-Lewis Children's Home, Valparaiso, IN.
