Robert I. Stroup, age 68, of 1535 East 60th Street, Chicago, a former resident of South Bend, died in the veterans hospital, Danville, Illinois, Tuesday afternoon after a years illness. He was a Spanish war veteran. Born in South Bend September 30, 1879, he had spent most of his life here, moving to Chicago three years ago on retirement from the Railway Express Agency, Inc. He was married in 1895 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Dollie Secrest, who survived. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. James C. O'Donnell, of Elkhart, Indiana, Mrs. Richard A. Smith, Mrs. Chester A. Niblick and Mrs. Edward E. McNabney, all of South Bend, and Miss Dorothy Stroup, of Chicago; two brothers, Daniel Newton Stroup and Frederick Stroup, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, and four grandchildren. Friends may call at the G. O. Gaff Chapel Thursday morning. The funeral will be held at the Chapel at 2:30 PM Friday with Rev. Rhys Price Jones, D. D., pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. Stroup was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Harry O. Perkins No. 25, United Spanish War Veterans.

Funeral services for Robert I. Stroup, 1535
East 60th Street, Chicago, will take place at 2:30 PM Friday in
the G. O. Gaff funeral home here. Rev. Rhya Price Jones,
D.C., of Westminster Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial
will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home today and until the funeral.
