SOUTH BEND - Mary A. Stroup, 83, of Hildebrand Street, died at 9:39 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mrs. Stroup was born March 24, 1912, in Greene Township.

On Jan. 2, 1932, in Greene Township, as Mary A. Ort, she married C. Howard Stroup. He survives with two daughters, Joan Blosser of South Bend and Shirley Thomas of Jefferson, Texas; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wesolek and Eva Karczluski, both of South Bend; and a brother, John Ort of South Bend. She was a member of Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Arthritis Foundation.
