Obituary of
John W. Stroup from South Bend Tribune January 7, 1954:
John W.
Stroup, 71, of 303 E. Howard St., died in his home at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday after
an illness of three months. Born in Warren Township on Aug. 18, 1882, Mr.
Stroup lived in South Bend most of his life. He formerly was employed by
the Indiana Bell Telephone Co. In 1906 he married Blanch Rupp, who died in
1917. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Coffman and five
grandchildren, all of South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Balmer, of South
Bend, and Mrs. Ella Harmon, of Constantine, Mich., and two brothers, Isaac, of
Three Rivers, Mich., and Frank, of Michigan. Friends may call after 7 p.m.
today in the Orvis Funeral Home and until services there at 3:30 p.m. Saturday,
Rev. Kenneth L. Kuebler, of St. Peter's Evangelical Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Highland
Cemetery.
