Marjory J. Streich

March 24, 1923 - April 30, 2000

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, friend, Marjory (Searfoss) Streich, 77, left this world to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 30.

Marjory was born on March 24, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., to the late E. Herman and Ina Marie (Sheneman) Searfoss. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace; a brother, Eugene; and by several half and stepbrothers and sisters.

As Marjory J. Searfoss, she married Herbert G. Streich on March 27, 1948. Marjory is survived by her husband, Herbert G. Streich; a daughter, Cindy Streich of South Bend; a son, Herbert K. Streich and his wife, SuEllen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandsons, Bradley Kent Streich and Darren Kent Streich; two sisters, Doris (Paul) Goon of South Bend and Alice (Roy) Burlington of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; and by two brothers, Robert Searfoss of Niles, Mich., and Clifford (Juanita) Searfoss of South Bend. She is also survived by two half sisters, Fern Heilman and Irene Jones; a stepsister, Bertie Matthews; and a stepbrother, Carl Tomlinson; along with many nieces and nephews.

Marjory retired from James Monroe School in 1980 after 31 years of teaching. During these years she touched many lives. She also had a love for cooking, baking, and making candy which her family and many friends enjoyed. She was a member of the Sonlight Fellowship Church, St. Joseph County Extension Club, T.O.P.S., Monroe Retired Educators and the Joy Club.

Funeral services celebrating Marjory's life will be at 11 a.m. today, May 3, in the Sonlight Fellowship Wesleyan Church, 3702 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, with Pastor Dan Willis officiating. Burial will take place in Fair Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before service in the church.

The Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where visitations were held on Tuesday, handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Marjory J. Streich be made to the Sonlight Fellowship Wesleyan Church, to the American Heart Association, or to the American Diabetes Association.
