Mark S. Strebinger, lifelong resident
of South Bend, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 27, 2005, at the
age of 47. Born April 24, 1958, minutes after his twin, Paul, to
proud parents, Robert R. Strebinger and Marilyn M. Bill,
who welcomed the two boys in their growing family that day. He
grew up with his brothers and sisters during what is said to be
the best of times. He could perk a smile from anyone with his
jokes and humor during meals and gatherings. Playing the guitar
in the mid-1970's for the We Together singers, he was able
to share his talents and later went on to become a youth director
for the group. After graduating from LaSalle High School in 1976,
he studied at the University of Portland, Oregon, for three years
and returned to South Bend to graduate from Memorial's School of
Nursing in December 1984. For over 20 years he has been a
registered nurse, and is known on a first-name basis by almost
everyone at the hospital. Short in stature, he yet was a giant of
inspiration and a source of insight among siblings.
Mark survives in the hearts of his only son,
Stephen G. Strebinger; his parents, Robert and Marilyn
Strebinger; his four sisters, Annette M. (Bob) Hemminger,
Marcia M. (Ed) McMillen, Carol E. (Phil) James and
Sharon R. Strebinger; and three brothers, David J. (Patti)
Strebinger, Paul E. Strebinger and Kevin S. (Kay) Strebinger. He
joins his three brothers, John C. Strebinger, Brian R. Strebinger
and James R. Strebinger, in eternal peace.
Friends may call Thursday, June 30, from 2
to 8:00 PM in the Hickey Funeral Home, Cleveland Road. Rosary to
be said at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 1, 10:00
AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Wilber Street. Interment to
follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the American Heart and Lung Associations.
