SOUTH BEND -- Paul Bernard Strasser,
88, of South Bend, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in his
home with his family by his side. He was born February 2, 1919,
in Wolcott, Indiana, to the late Clay and Emily (Blackburn)
Strasser. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Maxine Brown,
Gladys Kintz and Estel Strasser; and brothers, Art,
Harold, Frank and Clay Strasser.
On June 14, 1941, he married Mary Elizabeth Haney,
who became his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, in Christ the
King Catholic Church. Also left to cherish his memory are
daughters, Carol A. Strasser of South Bend and Nancy J. Dennig
(Patrick) of Granger; sons, Thomas P Strasser of North Port,
Florida, Charles M. Strasser (Nancy) and Richard A. Strasser of
South Bend; grandchildren, Sherry, Stacy, Matheu, Riley and Sean;
three sisters, Thelma Greenwood of South Bend, Mary Papczynski
(Al) of Lakeville and Ruth Whitesell of South Bend.
Paul retired in 1982 from the Bendix Corp.
as a general foreman after 42 years of service. He also owned
Frank's Sinclair Station on the corner of Olive and Lincoln Way
West for many years. He was a member of the South Bend and
Elkhart Moose and the Bendix Retirees Club. He and Mary enjoyed
traveling to Florida yearly to visit relatives and son, Tom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11
a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007, in his church, Christ the King
Catholic Church, 52473 U.S. 933 North, with Father Ronald Tripi,
CSC, officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to Mass in the church. Memorial
contributions may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or
to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunny Brook
Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The Welsheimer Family Funeral Home
North assisted the family with arrangements.
