Bernadine M. Strantz, 82, of Fairington Circle, formerly of South Albert Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away Monday, June 11, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Strantz was born May 20, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Louis and Angela (Nowak) Sniadecki. She was employed by Grand Leaders Department Store and then with Associates of North America.

On May 19, 1951, as Bernadine M. (Sniadecki) Hodosi, she married John A. Strantz, who preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Hodosi in 1978; and by her stepmother, Bernice (Kilinski) Sniadecki in 1968. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Waggoner of South Bend and Kathleen (David) Poe of Niles, Mich.; grandchildren, Michelle (David) Youngcourt of Indianapolis, Ind., Lisa (Robert) Williams of Granger, Ind., Jonelle Hodosi of Indianapolis, Melissa (Scott) Dieckmann of Richmond, Ky., Jason Hodosi of Colorado and Laurie Poe of South Bend; and one great-grandson, Spencer Youngcourt. She is also survived by a sister, Geraldine (Jerome) Tobolski of South Bend; and by a brother, Joseph (Grace) Sniadecki of South Bend. Mrs. Strantz was a member of St. Patrick Parish and the Polish Roman Catholic Union.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, in the KANIEWSKI Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 319 South Main Street, South Bend, IN 46601; or to the Sunday TV Mass, 150 E. Doan Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46806.
