NEW CARLISLE - Mahurin Mack Stone Sr., 78, of Cookeville, Tenn., formerly of New Carlisle, died Tuesday in Masters Healthcare Center, Algood, Tenn.

Mr. Stone retired as New Carlisle police chief. He was born July 23, 1917. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Stone of Cookeville; five daughters, Jessie R. Way and Sylvia Losee, both of Cookeville, Deborah Antonucci and Connie Leeke, both of Indiana, Eleanor Walsh of Massachusetts; a son, Mahurin Mack Jr. of Cookeville; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lola Evans of Kentucky.

Services were today in Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home, Cookeville. Burial was in Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery.
