WALKERTON - Dennis Eugene Stokes, 75, of Walkerton passed away Monday, January 7, 2008, in Mason's Healthcare Center, Warsaw, IN. Mr. Stokes was born August 29, 1932, in McCroy, AK to David and Lorena (Hedden) Stokes.

In February of 1952, he was married to Joan Divine in Gregory, AK. She survives along with one daughter, Carolyn Stokes of Warsaw; two sons, Danny Stokes of Mobile, AL and Glen Stokes of Walkerton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Skiles of Cape Coral, FL and Ruth Ann Baugher of Walkerton; and three brothers, Harvel "Pete" Stokes and Harold Stokes, both of Niles, MI and J.D. Stokes of Koontz Lake. Mr. Stokes was a former employee of C.O. Hiler in Walkerton, a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post #189, and the North Liberty VFW Post #1954.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. EST in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will be at the Polk Township Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. EST and Friday after 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
