MISHAWAKA - Maxine E. Stoehr, 87, of Mishawaka, IN, passed
away at 11:02 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007, in her daughter's
residence. Maxine was born on March 25, 1920, in Brooklyn, IN, to
Carl and Nell (Bain) Housand. Maxine worked 25
years at Uniroyal, retiring as a supervisor in the foot wear
division. She was a 1938 graduate of Mishawaka High School, a
member of East United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the
Eastern Star, Mishawaka Alumni Association, St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center Mishawaka Auxiliary, and she sold and took tickets
at Mishawaka High School sporting events.
On November 28, 1939, in Mishawaka, as
Maxine E. Housand, she married Luther L. Stoehr. Luther preceded
Maxine in death on February 14, 1989. Maxine is survived by her
daughter, Karen (Larry) Mowery of Mishawaka, two
grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Schroeder and Elizabeth (Kevin)
Whitelegg, three great-grandchildren, Donavan Schroeder,
Collin Schroeder and Katelynn Whitelegg; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her brothers, Archie,
Granville, Edgar, Harry, Kenneth, Jonathon, Robert, Harold and
Carl Jr., and her sisters, Thelma, Virginia, Mardell and Bernice.
Visitation for Maxine will be on Sunday from
1 until 5 p.m. in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street,
Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in East
United Methodist Church, 1621 East Third Street, Mishawaka, where
visitation will also be held one hour prior to the services. Rev.
Roberta Davis Ingle will officiate the services with burial to
follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Memorial
