Sebastian Stoeckinger

Dec. 6, 1826 – Nov. 19, 1897

The Mishawaka Enterprise 11/19/1897

Sebastian Stoeckinger, an old and well known German citizen, who has been in failing health for several years, was stricken suddebly with paralysis, Tuesday evening, while engaged in doing some light chores about the premises. He was found by his wife in an unconscious condition and conveyed to his room.

LATER -  Mr. Stoeckinger passed away just before midnight las night. He was born Dewec. 6, 1826, in Geiselwint, Germany. He was married July 26, 1859 in Germany to Barnara Tollerweich. To them eleven children were born, eight of whom are still living. They came to America and settled in Mishawaka in 1885. He was a miller by trade, but on account of his health he abandoned the trade and his sons, Frank, Fred and John, who were already living here, bringing the remainder of the family with him. He had been an invalid for 30 years.

The funeral will probably take place from St. Joseph Catholic Church. His sons Frank, John, George and Fred, and three of his daughters, Mrs. Albert Huennerkopf, Mrs. Fred VanderHuyden and Miss Barbara live in Mishawaka, and Mrs. Fred Koehler resides in Goshen. Valentine Stoeckinger is a brother of the deceased.

Editor: Correct spelling of Mrs. Fred VanderHuyden is Mrs. Fred VanderHeydem.
