SOUTH BEND - Roman W. Stodolny, 89, passed away on Friday,
October 17th, in his home. Roman was born in South Bend on
February 27, 1919, to the late Boleslav and Regina (Hojnacki)
Stodolny. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Stanley,
Edward and Wilbur Stodolny; and by a sister, Clarie Morris.
On May 28, 1959, in South Bend, Roman married Elaine J. (Bartkowiak)
Chojnacki. Survivors include his wife, Elaine; daughters,
Susan E. (Richard) Pusztai of South Bend and Anne Bell
of Elkhart; sons, Larry (Karen) Chojnacki and Bryan Chojnacki,
both of South Bend; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Roman served in United States Army. He retired in 1981 from
Ingersol-Rand as a machinist after 44 years of service. He
enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and gardening, but most of all he
loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Regional Office, 575 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN 46204; to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Holy Family Church, 56407 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.
