Clarence G. Stillman

Clarence G. Stillman, 82, of Auten Road, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 7:31 p.m. on Monday, March 2, in Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Stillman retired as head of the Industrial Arts Department of John Adams High School in 1980 after many years at the high school. He was born on May 3, 1915, in Goodland, Ind., to George and Anna (Frohreich) Stillman, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, David N. Stillman on May 30, 1979; three sisters, Roberta Stillman, Florence Storm and Louise Lee; and by a brother, Chester S. Stillman.

 

On May 15, 1942, in Rockville, Ind., he married Loleta Branson, who survives. He is also survived by five nieces, including Maxine Robison of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Plymouth, Ind., Bethel Ford of Rensselaer, Ind., and Martha Jean Gaddis of Muncie, Ind.; three nephews, Rev. Harold Storm of Orlando, Fla., Jack Lee of Buffalo, N.Y., and James Bradburn of Griffith, Ind.; and by a number of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Stillman was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men, as well as serving on the board of trustees. He was also a member of the Indiana Industrial Arts Association and the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, with Dr. Ellwood K. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
