March 26, 1940 - March 8, 2006
Mishawaka, In - Alvin W. Stewart Jr., 65,
residing in Mishawaka most of his life, has fallen asleep. To be
absent from the body is to be present with the Lord., and this
glorious event happened at 2:57 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2006,
in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Stewart was born
on March 26, 1940, in Hopkinsville, Ky., to the late Alvin W. and
Mavis (Dickenson) Stewart, Sr. On August 28, 1959, in the church
of Christ in Mishawaka, he married the former Patricia J. Miner
who survives.
Along with his wife, Patricia, of 47 years,
survive include two daughters, Teresa J. ( Paul) Divine of
Seneca, Mo., and Tina M. (the late Doug) Huegel of Mishawaka; one
son, Pastor Tim S. (Terri) Stewart of North Liberty; nine
grandchildren, Mandy, Joshua, Katy, Daven, Jerimee, Jennifer,
Brennam, Jessica and Jonathan, one sister, Linda (Ed) Voss of
Mishawaka; and two brothers, Tony (Sandy) Stewart of Kentucky and
Jeff (Sherri) Stewart of Plymouth.
Mr. Stewart was a faithful servant of God, Mr.
Stewart was a faithful husband, dad and grandpa. He was a member
of the North Liberty church of Christ, and an ordained pastor and
counselor. Mrs. Stewart was an avid reader, writer, painter and a
wonderful artist. He formerly worked at Dodge Reliance Electric
for 26 years. Mr. Stewart was a Past President of the United
Steelworkers of America. He enjoyed children and donated his time
for many and various charities, especially when the cause was for
helping children.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Monday March 13, 2006, in the North Liberty Church of Christ,
65225 S. R. 23, North Liberty, IN, pastor Tim S. Stewart and Andy
Kaser will officiate, Graveside services and burial will follow
at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit with
the family form 4 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2006, in the
Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 W. Michigan Street,
South Bend, and one hour prior to services in the church on
Monday.
