27, 1935 - Dec. 13, 2009SOUTH BEND - Richard E. Stevens, 74, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009. Richard was born February 27, 1935, the son of the late Alfred and Anna (Frenger) Stevens. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1953 and was a resident of the South Bend / Mishawaka area his entire life. Richard owned and operated Life Realty in South Bend from 1964 - 1987. At one time he served as President of the Board of Realtors, Multiple Listing Service and Roseland Rotary Club. As a teenager he received his pilot's license and enjoyed flying. Richard's surviving family includes his six children, Richard E. Stevens Jr. of Illinois, Jay (Sandy) Stevens of Griffith, Indiana, Jacqueline "Jackie" Stevens of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ryan (Danielle) Stevens of Keller, Texas, Blair Stevens of Keller, Texas, and Leslie "McKenna" Stevens of Keller, Texas; and five grandchildren, Zackary, Travis, Caitlin, Kailey and Brayden. Friends may spend time with Richard's family Monday, Dec. 21, from 2 - 3 p.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. Memorial services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Erv Mize officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Contributions in Richard's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana. Assistance with memorials is available through the funeral home.
