OSCEOLA - Katherine E. Sterling, 88, died at 2:11 p.m.
Tuesday in her home of natural causes. She was born on Feb. 28,
1919, in Benton Harbor, to the late Howard and Leola (DeCamp)
Peck.
On Jan. 15, 1961, in Niles, she married
Leslie A. Sterling, who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis M. Simons;
a brother, Robert Peck; and a sister, Virginia Leman.
Katherine was a beautician. She was the owner/operator of
Katherine's Beauty Shop, retiring in 1986 after 35 years. She was
a member of Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, Osceola,
Eastern Star, Home Extension Club, Questers, Women's Fellowship,
Mothers Club, and Winsome Class. Survivors include sons, James H.
Simons of Niles, Patrick J. (Susan) Simons of Sedro Woolley, WA,
Christopher (Marilyn) Simons of Osceola and Michael Simons of Los
Angeles; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, 10955 Edison Road, Osceola, with Rev. Dr. Sam Boys officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 8, in the Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola, and one hour before services in the church.
