Nov. 28, 1951 - April 19, 2010SOUTH BEND - Suzanne "Sue" Stephenson, 58, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, in her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Sue was born in South Bend, IN, on November 28, 1951, to Robert F. and Mary (Malm) Goodchild, who both preceded her in death. She attended Adams High School and graduated from Penn High School in 1970. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University of South Bend in 1990. She is survived by her five children, Amy (Todd) Mowers, Maggie Wood, Rebecca (Brooks) Kochvar, Katie Stephenson and Nicholas Moskolis. Also surviving are her brother, Rod Goodchild; her sister, Mary (Peg) Howard; her nephew, Tom Howard; five grandsons and one granddaughter. She was employed for 17 years with the City of South Bend Parks and Recreation Department. She had previously worked at the South Bend Community School Corporation as a paraprofessional. She was an active member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, where visitation will also occur one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship fund for her son, Nicholas Moskolis, at any INOVA Federal Credit Union branch location.
