Albert G. Stenke, 74, of South Bend, passed away Thursday morning Dec. 12, 2002, in Regency Place of South Bend. Born March 10, 1928 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Hugo and Dorothy (Goldberg) Stenke.

On June 9, 1951, in Chicago he married Patricia J. Donnelly who passed away in 2000. He is survived by his sons, Gary A. (Patricia) Stenke of Granger and Ronald P. of South Bend; three grandchildren, Nicole, Erik and Jordan Stenke; three sisters, Elsie Payne, Louise Stenke and Bernice Pracko (Andrew); and two brothers, Ronald (Mamie) and Jerry Stenke of Chicago. Mr. Stenke owned a gas station in the Chicago area for many years and retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Mr. Stenke was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N. Hill St., and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 14 in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. A wake prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
