Stephen J. Steinhoffer

December 17, 1910 – June 23, 1984

Stephen J. Steinhoffer, 73, of 51044 Portage Highway, died Saturday afternoon in his home after an apparent heart attack.  He retired in 1972 from an auto dealership where he was body sop manager for 45 years.  He also was a farmer.

Born December 17, 1910, in Edwardsburg, he lived in South Bend for 61 years, coming form Michigan.  On August 2, 1930, in South Bend, he married Elizabeth Weinzetl.  She survives with two daughters, Terri Herendeen and Anne Balint, both of South Bend; a son, Stephen J. Jr. of Taft CA; nine grandchildren; a sister, Helen Mead of Vandalia; and two brothers, John of South Bend and Victory of Benton Harbor.

Services will be at 10am Wednesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call form 2 to 9pm Tuesday in the Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home where the parish rosary will be said at 7pm.  He was a member of St Steven’s Society, the DFV German Club, William Penn Club and the German Twp Lions Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Corpus Christi Church Building Fund.
