SOUTH BEND - Lucille J. Steinhofer, 91, of Western Avenue, departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007. Lucille was born in Cleveland, OH, on Feb. 19, 1916, to the union of Joseph and Johanna Herringer. Lucille leaves to cherish a daughter, Mary Johanna McLien of South Bend; two sons, Edward Steinhofer of Mishawaka and Frank Steinhofer of Plymouth; a stepson, Charles (Lisa) McLien of Memphis, TN; three special grandchildren, Sandra R. Hatchett of Elkhart, Mary Louise Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Charles (Cheryl) Steinhofer of South Bend; five remaining grandchildren, Eddie Steinhofer, Hellen Steinhofer, Dawn Steinhofer, Julia Steinhofer and Buck Steinhofer; 17 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Candase Mitchell of South Bend and Beverly Mitchell of New York; a special nephew, Edward Newson of California; three special godchildren, Joan Addison, Gathon Garrett-Murray and Deborah McLaughlin, all of South Bend; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Johanna Herringer; a daughter, Ide Mae (Dee) McLien; a stepdaughter, Frances M. Hatchett Smith; a grandson, James Hatchett; and a great-grandson, Antonio Hatchett.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, with visitation at noon in The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
