E. Ted Steigmeyer, 71, of 1510 Kinyon St. died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after a two-year illness. He was retired from the funeral business. Born Oct. 14. 1901 In Decatur, Ind., he had resided here since 1931, coming from Fort Wayne. He married Beatrice Groff, Jan. 24, 1924. She survives along with two sons, Thomas L. of South Bend and Henry D. of Bloomfield, Mich; a daughter, Sister Joan Marie CSC, of Morengo, Ill.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Herbert F. of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. William Neidhart, CSC, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Steigmeyer was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Ushers Club of the church. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
