SOUTH BEND - Memorial services for Beatrice A. Steigmeyer, 92, of Dougdale Drive, who died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, will be at 11 a.m. April 29 in the Church of Loretto at Saint Mary's College. Cremation will take place, and burial will be in Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church or Ministry With the Poor Fund, Bertrand Hall, Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
Mrs. Steigmeyer retired in 1970 as a title clerk for Freeman-Spicer Co., where she had worked for 11 years. She was born March 1, 1903, in Continental, Ohio, and had lived in South Bend since 1931. On Jan. 24, 1924, in Fort Wayne, as Beatrice Groff, she married E. Ted Steigmeyer. He died July 4, 1973. She is survived by a daughter, Sister Joan M. Steigmeyer of Cincinnati; two sons, Thomas L. of South Bend and Henry D. of Pontiac, Mich.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Ima Prowant of Continental. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Harvest House, both of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and of Harvest House of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.
