Mrs. Polly Stayback: (South Bend Tribune 11/19/1962)

Mrs. Polly Stayback, 87, of Zigler St., New Carlisle, died at 1 p.m. Sunday in her home after several weeks’ illness. She was born in St. Joseph County Sept. 28, 1875, and had lived in the New Carlisle area all her life. In Rolling Prairie she was married to Peter Stayback, who died in 1936. Surviving are a foster-son, Martin Stayback, and a foster-daughter, Mrs. Stella Faltynski, both of New Carlisle. She was a member of the Ladies’ Rosary Society of St. John Canty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the H. C. Amen & Son Funeral Home, New Carlisle. The Ladies’ Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. today and Tuesday. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. John Canty Church, Rev. Henry Smartz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
