WALKERTON - Walletta Stanley, 87, passed away Tuesday,
January 1, 2008, at 9:15 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton.
Mrs. Stanley was born November 12, 1920, in Ivyton, KY, Magoffin
County, to Bruce and Alka (Crace) Howard, and had
lived in Walkerton for nine years, coming from Louisville.
In June 1939, in Salyersville, KY, she was
married to Junior Salyer, who was killed in action while
fighting in W.W.II. In March 1970 she married Jasper Stanley, who
preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a daughter,
Sandra Johnson; a sister, Janice Singleton;
brothers, Don, George and Charles Howard; and a grandson, Andrew
Johnson. Survivors include one son, Hargis B. (Susie) Salyer of
Walkerton; one daughter, Jeri Lou (David) Baker of
Louisville; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild; one brother, Rodney (IeIene) Howard of
Walkerton; sisters, Gladys Bennett of Argos, Louise
(Wesley) Setnor of Florida and Dora (Roy) Howard of Koontz
Lake. Walletta worked as a sales associate in Louisville for many
years before retiring. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles and
playing the lottery. She was always a devoted mother,
grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Family reunions and
holidays were always a very special time.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.
(Eastern time) Saturday in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake
Chapel. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. (Eastern
time) in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to
the Alzheimer's Association. A special thank you to Dr.
Shaya Mokfi for his compassionate and understanding care of our
mother. She will always be missed by us, but we are forever
grateful for her presence in our lives.
