Richard Leon Stanley, 73, of 52495
Avanelle Drive, Granger, Ind., died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18,
in his home. He was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to Rose
Labno and Leo Stanley. He was preceded in death by his
parents, and by a brother, R. Leroy Stanley. He had lived in
Granger since January 1966, moving here from Chicago. He was an
insurance agent for over 40 years, was a member of the Ushers
Club of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, a member of the St. Joseph
County Republican Party, was a U.S. Naval veteran, and had
coached Eastside Little League and St. Anthony's football.
On June 15, 1956, in Chicago, he married
Joan Eleanor Spiewak, who survives. He is also survived by
two daughters, Jodi A. (Patrick) Wilson of South Bend,
Ind., and Sandi R. (Mark) Carter of Indianapolis, Ind.;
two sons, Richard L. (Diane) Stanley Jr. of Granger and
Christopher B. Stanley of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren,
Kalen and Brittany Wilson, Andrew, Justin, Cory and Hannah
Stanley, and Grant Carter; and by two sisters, Mary Angleastro
of Chicago and Judy (Marty) Oster of LaGrange, Ill.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St.
Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Gardens, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4
and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in McGann's Funeral Home, University
Area Chapel, South Bend, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or to St. Anthony
School.
