SOUTH BEND - Samuel Obert Stafford passed away peacefully with
his family at his side on January 5, 2010, after acute leukemia
took his life. He was born on December 3, 1923 in Eau Claire, WI
and was the last surviving child of John and Mable Stafford;
sons, Chuck and Obert; daughters, Florence and Unice. A graduate
of Eau Claire class of 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army/Air
Corps in March 16, 1942, and was a decorated corporal in the
Aleutian conflict during WWII. Our country has designated him at
the veterans registry of heroes. Sam married Delores Mabiel
August 2, 1945, and has five children, Steven, Sylvia {deceased]
Jeffrey, Sandra, and Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Jaclyn,
of Wilmington, DE; and 3 stepchildren; Jan, Deborah and Susan,
and blessed with 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren He
retired from the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in LaPaz, IN, in
1969 and moved to Nashville, TN where he worked for the board of
health and met his wife of 41 years, Jaclyn Ellis. Sam was raised
up in blue 32nd degree Mason, VFW and American Legion member. his
joys were recording, soundtracking and gardening and could fix
anything. We will miss him and his patient well-being dearly. He
will be put to rest with military honors at 1 pm Monday January
11, 2010, at the Sussex County Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots
Way, Millsboro, DE 19966
