James Hilbert Stackhouse, 88, of
Hastings Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 7 a.m. on
Tuesday, Aug. 25, in his residence. Mr. Stackhouse was a former
employee of the Shell Oil Company in Warsaw, Ind., and retired in
1972 from the Shulzy & Burch Biscuit Company in South Bend.
He was born on June 13, 1910, in Etna Green, Ind., to the late
James S. and Florence Hoffer Stackhouse, and had resided in South
Bend since 1944, coming from Warsaw.
On Nov. 13, 1937, in Etna Green, he married
Maxine N. Yarman, who survives. He is also survived by a
daughter, Beverly Fulnecky of South Bend; a son, Jay
Stackhouse of Rochester, Ind.; three grandchildren, Kristina and
Brian Fulnecky, and Jamie Stackhouse; a sister, Marybelle Norris
of Columbus, Ohio; and by a brother, Floyd Stackhouse of Warsaw.
Services for Mr. Stackhouse will be at 11
a.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue,
South Bend. Rev. Philip Abram, pastor of the River Park United
Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood
Cemetery, Warsaw. Friends called from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on
Wednesday in the Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend. Mr. Stackhouse
was a member of the River Park United Methodist Church, to which
contributions may be offered in his memory.
