Donald C. Sramek, 55, of Windover Lane, Granger, Ind., died of kidney cancer Friday afternoon, Dec. 14, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Donald was applications engineer with C & E Sales of Dayton, Ohio. He was born Oct. 20, 1946, in LaPorte, Ind., to Raymond and Mildred (Skibbe) Sramek of South Bend, who survive. Donald was a 1965 LaPorte High School graduate, and he graduated from Indiana University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, and St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his two children, especially fishing and computer games. His hobbies included genealogy and model trains.
On Jan. 28, 1969, in Indianapolis, Ind., he married Becky Irvin, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Amy Sramek of Mishawaka, Ind.; a son, Peter Jaeger of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister, Jean (Ron) Dubyak of Dorado, Puerto Rico; brother-in-law, Michael (Terri) Zimmerman of Indianapolis; a niece, Pamela Dubyak of Dorado; and three nephews, Luke and Patricia Zimmerman of Indianapolis, and Ron Dubyak II of Dorado. Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sramek Zimmerman.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 51490 Laurel Rd. (Auten and Laurel Roads, South Bend), with Rev. Gregory Fiechtner, pastor, officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, Ind. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, 289-1000. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Logan Communities Resources, 1235 N.
