SOUTH BEND - Richard Irving Squint, 83, of South Bend,
passed away on Friday morning in the Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1925, in South Bend, to John
Irving and Goldie (Kindig) Squint. Richard was preceded in
death by his parents; daughters, Marjorie Squint and Cindy Lou Cambrin;
a sister, Beatrice Tyler; and by a brother, James Squint.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly Morris,
who he married November 18, 1944, in South Bend. His daughter,
Debbie Kleiser (Jim) of Granger, IN; sons, Michael Squint
(Noreen) of South Bend and Christopher Squint (Vickie) of
Osceola; grandchildren, Jeff Cambrin, Andy Squint
(Kristin), Angie Hutchison (Joe), Laura Montgomery
(Lee), Brian Paquette (Melinda), Julie Smith
(Randy), Jill Kleiser, Kristin Kleiser, Stefanie Squint, Natalie Lynch
(Steven), Leslie Forkner (Gary) and Jenny Richardson
(Jeff); great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brady, Chloe, Tyler, Gaven,
Ayden, Ana, Teri, Chaney, Hailey, Saturn, Solomon, Ashlyn and
Zackary; and a sister, Joyce Jones (Jim) of Phoenix, AZ.
Richard graduated from Riley High School and went into the Army
where he served with distinction, was assigned to the Air Corps,
and was discharged in 1945. He retired from White Farm after 30
years service as a tool & die engineer, and prior to that he
worked at the Studebaker Corp. He was a member of St. Joseph
Lodge #45 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, the Drum
and Bugle Corps, Moose Lodge #58, American Turners, Toastmasters
and the National Management Association.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County American Cancer Society
or to The Humane Society.
