SOUTH BEND - Leo Walter Squint, 85, of El Paso, Texas, formerly of South Bend, died Monday in his home. Mr. Squint retired in 1973 from The Tribune after 48 years of service.

He was born Aug. 28, 1908, in South Bend, and lived in South Bend most of his life. On Jan. 2, 1932, he married Ruth E. Ellis. She survives, with a daughter, Carolynn R. Yost of Green Valley Lake, Calif.; a son, Leo Dale of Laredo, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was a former member of Eagles, Tribune Bowling League, and 25-year Club of The Tribune.

There will be no services. Cremation has taken place. El Paso Mission Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
