Oct. 4, 1960 - May 5, 2010MISHAWAKA - Patrice "Patti" Grant-Spychalski, 49, residing in Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at home. She was born October 4, 1960, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ann (Ralph) Grant. She was a lifelong resident of the area. On November 15, 1986, in South Bend, she married Bob A. Spychalski (South Bend), who survives. Patti is also survived by her son, Thomas (Denae) Fielder Jr. of Apple Valley, MN; stepdaughter, Nikki (Matt) Freeman of Mishawaka; stepson, Ed (Lila Savage) Spychalski of South Bend; two grandchildren, Thomas Fielder III and Maria Fielder; three stepgrandchildren, Ethan Anderson, Gage Spychalski and Sophia; four sisters, Debi Grant-Smith of Apple Valley, MN, Karen Grant of Tampa, FL, Michele Grant of Apple Valley, MN, and Tammy (Kevin) Alstott of South Bend; three nieces, Nina Galbraith of Tampa FL, and Jessica and Alyssa Alstott of South Bend; and two uncles, Jim Ralph and Richard Grant, both of South Bend. Patti was fondly known for her love of life and her wide circle of supportive friends and relatives. She had such great love for her grandchildren, and liked nothing better than sharing her favorite stories and pictures of them. She cherished her wonderfully supportive friends, including those from the Pack Motorcycle Club, and Aldi co-workers and family of customers from the three locations she worked at over her 25 years at the store. Patti never met an animal she didn't like, and on the top of her list was her beloved dog, Rockett. One of her greatest joys was the sun and riding on the back of a motorcycle to enjoy her friends and the outdoors. Her family and friends would like to thank the many healthcare professionals here and in Indianapolis who gave so much quality to her short life. The list is too long to mention, but we'd like to give a special thanks to Dr. Brian Sucharetza and Dr. Farid Jalinous. Patti also volunteered at the South Bend Police Department for two years and at Hospice for the last year. Funeral services for Patti will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 10, 2010, at Willow Creek United Methodist Church, 14010 E. Jefferson Hwy., Mishawaka, IN 46545, where the Rev. Milton Gould will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 6:00 PM today and 9:30 - 10:30 AM Monday in Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635.
