Armand A. Spitaels

MISHAWAKA - Armand A. Spitaels, 74, of Mishawaka, died
after a brief illness at 9:45 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, in the
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Armand was
born April 27, 1934, in Geraardsbergen, Belgium, to the late Omer
and Madeleine (Dumollin) Spitaels. On December 28, 1957,
Armand married the former Patricia Geurs in Mishawaka at
St. Bavo Catholic Church. She survives along with three sons,
Richard (Sharon) Spitaels of Mishawaka, Ronald (Rhonda) Spitaels
of Osceola and Randy (Annette) of Nappanee; 10 grandchildren,
Reid, Andrew, Haley, Amy, Danyell, Cameron, Madeline, Brock,
Abigail and Emily; one great-granddaughter, Alexis; and a
brother, Roger (Barbara) Spitaels of Mishawaka.
Friends and family may call from 3 to 8 on
Monday, July 21st, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St. in
Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday,
July 22nd, in St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka, with Mr.
Spitaels nephew, the Rev. Philip DeVolder, officiating. Burial
will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Armand retired from
Wheelabrator and then worked as a courier for MFB Bank. He was a
member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, and was a member of the B-K Club where he won several
Belgian bowling championships. He loved to travel and especially
loved his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's
ballgames as often as he could. He will be forever missed but
never forgotten. Memorial contributions may be made in Armand's
